Over the past two decades, research in the Roos laboratory has pioneered the integration of diverse large-scale datasets to explore eukaryotic evolution, characterize organellar function, and identify therapeutic targets for parasitic diseases, including malaria and toxoplasmosis. The tools developed in the course of this work have also proved useful for many thousands of researchers around the world, in the form of the Eukaryotic Pathogen Genomics Resource, a large production database established in 1998, and now recognized as a national Bioinformatics Resource Center for Infectious Disease supported by the NIH, Wellcome Trust, Gates Foundation, and others.
