Erol Akçay

Our newest faculty member, Erol Akçay, received his Ph.D. in Biology from Stanford. His research on the evolution of biological and social organization aims to explain how cooperation among individuals evolves in nature and in human societies. Combining ecological and evolutionary theory with tools from economics, he studies cooperation in several distinct contexts, including interspecific mutualisms, animal sociality, human economic behavior, and conservation biology.
