Dr. Angela Bednarek

Ocean Seience Division, The Pew Charitable Trusts

Dr. Angela Bednarek will describe her work strengthening the connections between science and public policy for the ocean science division at The Pew Charitable Trusts. Pew’s ocean science division supports scientific projects and fellowships that address key management challenges for the world’s ocean ecosystems. Dr. Bednarek’s work focuses on creating effective science policy outreach strategies andassessing the impact of those strategies. Dr. Bednarek will describe her trajectory from ecologist to science policy intermediary, including her time as a AAAS Diplomacy Fellow at the U.S. Department of State in the Office of Environmental Policy.  She will discuss how to lay the groundwork during graduate school for a career in science policy and the variety of opportunities for pursuing career paths in this arena.
