Models of Gene Regulatory Networks in Bacteria, Plants, and Roundworms
Mathematical Biology Seminar
Cody FitzGerald (University of Utah)
Gene regulatory networks can exhibit bistable and more exotic multistable switch-like dynamics in response to environmental signals. I will describe several recent analyses of gene regulatory networks found in bacteria, plants, and roundworms. My talk will focus on using mathematical modeling to generate biologically-testable hypotheses and my recent collaborations with experimentalists. I will also explain an underused technique for analytic bifurcation study involving the resultant polynomial associated with an ODE system at steady state.
