Projects for Progress provides funding for teams of University staff, students, and faculty in their efforts to address serious issues that impact everyday lives in the city of Philadelphia. Other team members are Penn Farm, Penn Praxis, the Netter Center and the Center for Public Health. The Urban Food Systems Community of Practice will comprise a multi-generational cohort of Philadelphians committed to improving urban agriculture and the city’s food system with focus on community building and shared problem solving. Part of the Community of Practice is the Urban Growers Institute, which will provide job skills, training and education to establish and sustain community gardens and farms. Finally, the Keep Growing Resource supports community initiatives, addresses shared challenges and ensures the continued success of food systems programs with technical and practical assistance, including a tool library and soil testing. Penn Farm will be the physical center of these activities, with all team members contributing to the Community of Practice and associated programming
