Bioethics Program

The Biology Graduate Program has developed a bioethics program that coordinates with each stage of the student's academic career.

During New Student Orientation, first-year students attend a seminar on academic integrity, discussing topics such as plagiarism, research integrity and scientific misconduct.

Since students usually fulfill the teaching requirement in their second year, an ethics seminar is included in the Teaching Assistant Training sessions. This seminar covers topics that TAs encounter while teaching, such as student cheating and academic dishonesty.

For additional insight into this topic, the Center for Bioethics at Penn offers a colloquium series each year. Many of their past lectures have been posted online for continued review.
